Winter Skin Care Routine

Winter can take its toll on your skin and brisk winds and dark mornings can leave your skin feeling dry and uncomfortable. As experts in made-to-measure skincare we have a few tips to keep your skin radiant in the colder months.




Change your cleanser 


In Winter your skin is more susceptible to becoming dry so it's a good idea to select a creamier cleanser. We recommend our Botanical Milk, which gently removes make-up and impurities whilst hydrating and protecting skin with hazelnut oil and marine algae. Follow with the Botanical Toner, formulated with witch hazel for its anti-oxidant and astringent properties. It gently tones, soothes and rebalances the skin. Use on its own or customize for your needs by adding a few drops of your favourite Anne Semonin Intensive Complex.






Eat your way to glowing skin


If your skin is feeling a little lacklustre try eating foods high in beta-Carotene, carrots and sweet potatoes are a good source of this. As an antioxidant, it works to prevent premature ageing of the skin and also leaves skin glowing. We love this recipe for sweet potato toast with avocado and smoked salmon. Not only will you get a boost of Beta-Carotene but avocado is rich in vitamin E which fights dryness, perfect for winter weather.



Hydrate & Protect



Hydrate & Protect 


Central heating combined with brisk winds can leave skin feeling dry and itchy. Combat this dryness with a more intense moisturiser. For normal skin, we recommend the Oligo Protect Cream SPF 30 for everyday nourishment with added SPF protection which is important all year round (not just for summer!). If your skin is dry, the Extreme Comfort Cream will provide luxurious hydration reviving parched complexions to reveal glowing skin. For those with oily skin, our Marine Emulsion is a lighter alternative that will moisturise gently with shea butter and sea algae as well as brighten the complexion.





The Art of Hygge


Relaxing is imperative to feel radiant inside and out. This time of year can be a cold and dark affair, but don't let this get you down, take a leaf from the Danes’ book and practice the art of Hygge. Described as "the absence of anything annoying or emotionally overwhelming; taking pleasure from the presence of gentle, soothing things" we think it sounds like the perfect way to relax. So turn off the TV, find your cosiest blanket, light some candles and settle in with some delicious food for some Scandinavian inspired relaxation.




Spa at Home


Have an at-home spa day 


Make the most of dark cold evenings and spend some time pampering at home with a home-made spa day. Start with a warm shower using our refreshing Exfoliating Shower Gel and then why not indulge in a body oil for a luxurious way to nourish dry and itchy winter skin.


We love our Nourishing Body Oil with sesame oil, hazelnut oil and vitamin-rich buriti oil sourced from Amazonian palm trees. Spend some time massaging the oil in for that spa-like experience to soothe symptoms of stress and muscular aches and pains.


Then choose an Anne Semonin Mask and treat your skin to some TLC.
