SKINCARE FOR COLD WEATHER

WINTER IS HERE TO STAY, AND YOU NEED TO PAMPER AND PROTECT YOUR SKIN WHILE YOU WAIT FOR WARMER DAYS. IT'S COMMON KNOWLEDGE THAT THE COLD IS NOT KIND TO YOUR SKIN. IN FACT, YOU COULD BE PLAGUED BY EVERYTHING FROM DRYNESS TO CHAPPED, RED SKIN, GIVING YOU A VERY DULL COMPLEXION INDEED! BUT THERE'S NO NEED TO WORRY. IF YOU USE GOOD PRODUCTS AND ADAPT YOUR ROUTINE TO THE COLD, YOU'LL BE SURPRISED HOW QUICKLY YOUR SKIN WILL REGAIN ITS RADIANCE EVEN WHILE WINTER IS HOWLING.

1. USE WARM, NOT HOT, WATER

A hot shower in the winter feels great! But water that's too hot can affect your skin's hydro-lipid barrier, making it dry and scaly. This doesn't mean you need to shiver through a cold shower (you do enough of that outside!). Just try to keep the water temperature under 38˚C so your skin's natural oils remain in the top layers. Finally, don't forget to moisturise after showering. Anne Semonin Extreme Comfort Body Cream, has an ultra-nourishing, rich creamy texture that's ideal for soothing skin that's been exposed to harsh environments.

2. EAT PROPERLY

Healthy skin starts from the inside. This is especially true if yours has a tendency to be dry or red. In the winter, indoor heating and harsh weather can cause excessive dehydration and dry skin. So it's more important than ever to give your body what it needs to maintain a good balance. Start by drinking a lot of water and making sure you get enough nutrients from oily fish and vegetables high in omega-3 fats. To fill up on all the vitamins you need as well as zinc -- which helps fight illness -- load your plate with green veggies like broccoli, kale and spinach. You might also want to add a vitamin D supplement to keep your skin and bones in great health.

3. MOISTURIZE!

In the summertime, skincare usually involves lighter creams. But in the winter you're better off using something richer, even if you have oily skin. Choose a deep-nourishing moisturiser like Anne Semonin Extreme Comfort Cream with macadamia oil, shea butter and seaweed extracts, to nourish your skin and protect it from the cold. Peptide-rich products like Anne Semonin Super Active Cream will help replenish the collagens needed by mature or very dry skin for a more "plumped up" look.

4. CHANGE YOUR ROUTINE

When the outdoor elements are fierce and unrelenting, the simplest way to cope is to alter your skincare routine. Now is the ideal time to add a serum to your moisturiser, if you haven't already done so. Serums combine water, oils and highly concentrated active ingredients in formulas specially conceived to penetrate skin at a deeper level. On the other hand, moisturisers create a physical barrier right on top in order to retain water. By combining both, you can give your skin deep nourishment and surface protection at the same time. Anne Semonin Precious Serum is formulated with vegetable oils from sesame, St. John's wort and wheat germ, all well-known for their reparative, softening qualities that dramatically improve skin radiance. Remember to exfoliate in the winter to remove dead cells and get an instant glow. Use the Exfoliating Mask with its double action; if needed, follow up with a repair cream. The Cream Mask is enriched with essential oils and shea butter for deep nourishment that erases irritations and revives your glow.
