Marine spring water: the ultimate ingredient in your seasonal skincare routine

Marine spring water: the ultimate ingredient in your seasonal skincare routine We at Anne Semonin use natural ingredients and active ingredients derived from biochemistry to deliver the best skincare results and prevent premature skin aging. And we’ve done so since the brand’s inception. Our star ingredients include mineral-rich seaweed extracts, trace elements, and seawater vitamins. The rarest ingredient we use is marine spring water, which we source off the coast of Brittany. Read on to discover everything about this natural, precious ingredient and how it can help you achieve radiant skin this season.

Water plays a crucial role in Anne Semonin skincare

Water is usually the ingredient with the highest concentration (70%-80%) in the formulas of most skincare products (except balms and oils). Regular water is demineralized and sterilized and used as a solvent, dissolving a formula’s other substances. “Active” waters such as floral water, fruit water, thermal spring water, sea water, and marine spring water are sometimes used to boost a formula’s skincare results.

"Marine spring water is an active ingredient. By using marine spring water as the ingredient with the highest percentage in our formulas, rather than regular water — the norm in skincare, we develop products with ‘super concentrations,’” explains Anne Nguyen, Marketing and Product Development Director at Anne Semonin.

Marine spring water: natural, moisturizing, and active

But what is so special about marine spring water, and what does it do for the skin? Sourced from a 22-meter-deep natural reservoir off the coast of Brittany, marine spring water is unique and, in fact, very different from seawater. It is rich in minerals and trace elements and contains a high level of manganese and silicon. These high levels reduce the natural process of trans-epidermal water loss, and ultimately improve hydration levels and combat natural dehydration.

At Anne Semonin, we harness the moisturizing power of marine spring water in several products. You'll find it in our super active, anti-aging collection (Super Active Cream, Super Active Serum, Super Active Contour Serum) and our unique cryotherapy-powered ice cube range (Express Radiance Ice Cubes, Eye Express Radiance Ice Cubes). You’ll also find marine spring water in other Anne Semonin skincare must-haves, such as Botanical Toner, le Resurfacing Peel Mask, Oligo Protect Cream SPF30 and Botanical Body Milk.
